Handlung
1929 produzierte das Hollywood-Studio MGM mit "Broadway Melody" sein erstes Musical und löste damit einen Boom aus, der bis in die fünfziger Jahre anhielt. Stars von damals und aus späteren Jahren wie Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra und Liza Minnelli präsentieren und kommentieren Ausschnitte aus den größten Erfolgen, wobei Kellys Tanz mit dem Regenschirm aus "Singin' in the Rain" ebenso wenig fehlen darf wie Höhepunkte aus "Ein Amerikaner in Paris", "Showboat", "Broadway Melodie 1950" und "Der Zauberer von Oz".
