Sinopsis
Una mirada a las actrices que protagonizaron las películas sonoras de Hollywood previas a la instauración del código de censura (conocido como "código de producción") en 1934. Esas actrices tuvieron complejos y desafiantes roles, mostraban características raramente asociadas a la mujer en el cine clásico norteamericano posterior al código: fortaleza, independencia, deseo sexual, emprendimiento, lucha por la liberación y oposición al rol masculino dominante. Este documental rastrea, mediante entrevistas y comentarios de filmes producidos entre 1929 y 1934, a esas actrices y los personajes que interpretaron; mostrando el enorme cambio que supuso la instauración del código de producción y la cercana relación entre la liga católica por la decencia y los principales estudios.
