Synopsis
Johnny Morrison, un ancien pilote de l'aéronavale récemment démobilisé, arrive à Los Angeles avec deux amis. Il doit y retrouver son épouse, Helen. Quelle n'est pas sa surprise lorsqu'il découvre que sa compagne est devenue alcoolique et qu'elle le trompe avec Eddie Harwood, le propriétaire d'un night-club qui a pour enseigne «Le Dahlia bleu» ! Johnny fait une scène à Helen et leur dispute ne passe pas inaperçue. Lorsque la police retrouve le corps sans vie de la jeune femme, Johnny est immédiatement interpellé. Il est en effet le premier à être soupçonné du meurtre...
