Synopsis
Deux reporters, Ichiro Sakai et Junko Nakanishi, sont envoyés sur un site industriel dévasté par un violent cyclone. Ils y découvrent une étrange substance. Parallèlement, les pêcheurs de la baie de Yokohama ramènent un œuf géant et mystérieux qui est aussitôt acheté par Toharata, un homme d'affaires véreux. Malgré les recommandations du professeur Miura, inquiets de ce qui se cache dans l'œuf, Toharata décide d'en faire une attraction particulièrement lucrative pour les touristes et les curieux. À leur grande stupéfaction, de petites fées apparaissent pour reprendre l'œuf aux humains. Les « Aelinas », comme elles se nomment, sont décidés à récupérer ce qui appartient à leur déesse, la phalène géante Mothra.
