Synopsis
Après un meurtre, le shériff John Grant arrête Joe Burdette et l'enferme dans une cellule en attendant l'arrivée du prévôt des États-Unis. La prison est gardée par ses deux adjoints, Dude, un alcoolique et Stumpy, un vieillard estropié. Mais dehors, Nathan Burdette, son frère, et sa bande se réunissent et attendent patiemment le moment favorable pour attaquer la prison et libérer Joe...
