Synopsis
Mickey Prohaska est petit agent d'assurance qui aimerait relancer sa société pour sauver son mariage et fuir le froid du Wisconsin. Pour cela, il compte sur ses talents de beau parleur pour arnaquer un fermier retraité solitaire qui possède un violon d'une grande valeur. Mais son affaire prend un dangereux tournant quand un serrurier quelque peu détraqué et au tempérament psychotique veut le corrompre par chantage...
