Synopsis
Hanna Kaufman, une juive américaine installée en France, décide de quitter son mari pour vivre pleinement sa passion pour un poète qu'elle suit en Israël. Elle s'installe donc à Jérusalem, reprend ses études et entame une carrière juridique. Le procureur général la désigne bientôt pour défendre Selim Bakri, un immigré clandestin menacé d'expulsion. Hanna se tourne vers son mari quand les milieux auxquels elle s'attaque se montrent menaçants et tentent de lui faire abandonner son combat...
