Synopsis
Jerry Plunkett, un Irlandais de Brooklyn, décide de rejoindre le 69ème régiment durant la Première Guerre Mondiale. Mais celui-ci va rapidement se montrer méprisant et va même défier son colonel. Sa troupe est alors envoyée outre-mer pour combattre mais à la vue du carnage Jerry va perdre la tête...
