Synopsis
Tyrannique et violent, le colonel Jim Brewton est éleveur de bétail dans Nouveau-Mexique de la fin du XIXè. Sa femme, la fragile Lutie Cameron, ne supporte plus son tempérament irascible, et trouve du réconfort dans les bras de son amant, Brice Chamberlain. Elle quitte son mari, lui laissant la garde de leurs deux enfants, dont l'un, Brock, est illégitime. La réconciliation du couple ne se fera qu'au prix de la mort de Brock.
