Trama
Due sergenti della marina attraversano mezza America per scortare in prigione un marinaio condannato a otto anni per un furto di quaranta dollari. Il viaggio serve ai tre per stringere una singolare amicizia, non priva di ruvidità, ma anche profonda e sincera. Il marinaio è più un disadattato che un delinquente e i suoi "carcerieri" si rendono conto che sta per pagare colpe non sue. Le ultime ore di libertà diventano così un gioco a rimpiattino tra possibilità e necessità.
