Trama
Il giovane Armstrong Custer arriva all'accademia di West Point e si distingue immediatamente per coraggio, abilità nelle armi e pessimo profitto. Conosce la ragazza che diventerà sua moglie e scalpita quando scoppia la guerra. Finalmente parte e, per un disguido burocratico, si vede assegnare il grado di generale. Alla fine della guerra è un eroe. Diventa comandante del leggendario Settimo cavalleggeri, viene mandato nel Dakota a tener d'occhio gli indiani. Coinvolto in beghe politiche, per la sua irruenza si fa nemico lo Stato Maggiore. Perde il comando e grazie a una petizione al presidente Grant lo riottiene. Nel giugno del 1876 muore da eroe al Little Big Horn lasciando inconsolabile l'adorata moglie.
