Trama
Nella Los Angeles degli anni 50 si intrecciano numerose storie all'interno e al di fuori del locale distretto di polizia: protagonisti i detective Jack Vincennes (un vero e proprio divo televisivo), Ed Exley, ambizioso e pronto a far dichiarazioni sui suoi colleghi, e Bud White, che indaga sui rapporti tra malavita e forze dell'ordine e incontra Lynn, una copia in carne ed ossa di Veronika Lake che lavora in un giro ben poco raccomandabile di "attrici"...
