Trama
Il capo dei servizi segreti inglesi Adrian Chapple (John Gielgud) è sospettato di essere un doppiogiochista a favore dell'Unione Sovietica. Per neutralizzarlo il controspionaggio elimina tutti gli uomini della sua cerchia. Tra questi Bob, un esperto di lingua e letteratura russa. Il padre Frank, indagando privatamente, smaschera Chapple che però muore in una colluttazione
