Trama
In un futuro molto prossimo, le risorse di acqua dolce si sono esaurite e la civiltà è sull'orlo del collasso. In una valle dell'Oregon, colpita particolarmente dalla siccità, un avido "barone dell'acqua" è determinato a spazzare via ogni sopravvissuto ricorrendo anche ai mezzi più violenti. Solo Kendal, una coraggiosa diciassettenne più matura della sua età, potrà con determinazione e grinta lottare per ciò che è giusto.
