Trama
California 1972: John Leary, irriverente conduttore di un'emissione televisiva di serie B, che trasmette film horror nella fascia notturna, occupa nel quartiere di Oakland una grande casa. Avendo perso prematuramente la moglie, John cresce da solo i due figli maschi, il piccolo Dylan di tre anni ed il dodicenne Jack, conosciuto da tutti in famiglia come "Jack l'orso". L'uomo ben presto dovrà fare i conti con un vicino razzista e psicopatico.
