Trama
Earl Pilcher jr. conduce una vita tranquilla in Arkansas, dividendosi tra famiglia e lavoro. Prima di morire, sua madre gli lascia una lettera in cui gli rivela le sue vere origini: Earl è il figlio di una donna di colore morta durante il parto e ha un fratello, Ray, che vive a Chicago. Quando va a trovare quest'ultimo, riceve inizialmente una fredda accoglienza...
