Project Priyo

A short documentary that follows the journeys of five queer and trans* individuals from different states across India, weaving together stories told in Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, and Malayalam. Through intimate interviews and personal reflections, the film explores how caste, queerness, and geography intersect to shape each person’s experience. Rather than focusing solely on hardship, Project Priyo centers joy, love, community, and resilience, challenging dominant narratives about queer-trans* lives in India. With tenderness and depth, the documentary highlights how each navigates identity, belonging, and resistance, offering a rich, multifaceted view of queer-trans* realities across diverse regional and cultural landscapes.
