Plot
“Birmingham’s Front Lawn” tells the extraordinary story of a 19-acre park that transformed the city of Birmingham, Alabama. Railroad Park is a green oasis in the middle of downtown and, from the perspective of someone living, working or playing in 2026 Birmingham, Railroad Park’s existence must seem inevitable. But that is far, far from the case. The transformation of the former Railroad Reservation into a vibrant park is a story about the power of urban planning, community collaboration, and landscape design to jumpstart civic life.
