Katrin (1986)

The first part of the “Maxhütte Cycle”, featuring six scenes from the control room of the old rolling mill at Maxhütte-Unterwellenborn. The camera follows slab mill operator Katrin Hensel in her control room. Despite the intense noise and production pressure, Katrin always maintains a clear overview, gives precise instructions, notes down completed orders, and operates countless buttons and levers—sometimes while simultaneously using the phone and intercom.
