Plot
Science College Principal Tripathi is criticized by the college professors, as his younger brother Ajay failed the exam twice and fell behind by two years. Tripathi is angry with Ajay and wants him to give up poetry and concentrate on his studies. Ajay does not do this and instead leaves the house, telling his brother that he will establish himself as a poet and then return home. He submits his poems for publication but is told that they are lacking. He falls in love with the beautiful Nikita (Mamta Kulkarni), the daughter of a wealthy industrialist. Ajay wants to establish himself before getting married, and relocates to Bombay. Upon reaching there, he becomes engaged to Bollywood actress Jyoti (suchitra Krishnamurthy), and starts gambling and drinking. Nikita moves to Bombay and finds Ajay, a ruined young man.
