For five years, Irina patiently waited for her beloved Kostya to divorce his wife and propose to her. At last, the long-awaited day arrives: Konstantin invites Irina to a restaurant and solemnly announces that he has bought engagement rings. But the second ring is not meant for her—it’s for his boss’s daughter. Irina is shocked by the situation. Unable to come to terms with the betrayal of the man she loves, she decides to take her own life. At the entrance to a pharmacy, where the desperate woman goes to buy a fatal dose of sleeping pills, she meets an abandoned dog. Learning that the poor animal is being taken to a kill shelter, Irina feels compassion for it and decides to take it home…
